The Rich History of ICI
Our clients trust us to protect their assets and manage their total cost of risk, which is why they appreciate the rich history and stability of ICI. Our beginnings date back to 1885 when J.C. Hoyt & Co. was providing insurance services for El Dorado. Ninety seven years later, J.C. Hoyt merged with Bacon Insurance, Inc. to form Insurance Center, Inc. Since then, we have continued to grow, opening additional offices in Wichita, Derby and Emporia. In 2008, we simplified our name to “ICI”.
Tom Murry joined ICI in 1981 and has since been credited with much of ICI’s growth. An immigrant from Ireland, he completed the prestigious Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) program, the Life Underwriters Training Counsel (LUTC) and served in numerous roles, including president, with the Kansas Association of Insurance Agents (KAIA). In 1996, Tom was presented the Agent of Merit Award by the Kansas Insurance Association, and in 1997, Allied Life honored Tom as their #1 Life Insurance Agent in the United States.
Tom was the president of ICI until 2015. Today, his son, Ryan, serves as the president of ICI.
